i built this website over a 2 week period. id say i put in 9ish hours. 85% of this website was built using codex. like 10% was built using cursor. And the other 5% directly written by me.
codex
is fucking phenomenal. i've used a bunch of agents in the past but codex is thus far the best one. there is one key reason as to why:
refactoring.

i had zero say in this structure early on. for the first hundredish prompts i was not looking at the code at all. About 5 hours i finally rolled up my sleeves and opened my IDE
I was shocked by what i found. The codebase was clean. coherent. The structure was simple!
Most other agents feel purely additive.You ask for a feature and they respond with: “Great idea!” then drop a 150-line diff. It works, you skim it, you move on. But the code only grows. Nothing ever gets cleaned up.
Have you ever seen claude deliberately delete code, unprompted? Not because you asked, but because it realized it shouldn’t be there?
coding is lowkey the equivalent to building one of those rubber band balls. Early on in ur project, the ball is small and its easy to add a rubber band.
As ur blob gets larger the effort to add rubber bands grows (and theres a risk of snapping!). A good engineering team will work to keep the blob small whenever they can, as this pays off dividends in the future.
in conclusion codex is my favorite agent as of today
